Time spent with family is indeed a time well-spent. As girls raised in a family-oriented environment, we know and believe in this line by heart. Before even knowing the results of our board examinations (in which we both passed, yay!), our Tita Kooky suddenly surprised us a free stay in Diamond Hotel on July 31st until August 2nd. A sane person could not say no to this offer, like ever.
This gigantic artificial falls greeted us at the hotel.
These lovely ornaments on the ceiling at the lobby reminded me of coral reefs even though they looked like a group of jellyfishes in this photo.
We were provided with two rooms with two massive beds each. One was overlooking the poolside, the other was the bayside (where the yachts of the elites reside).
A group photo-op is never bad when you have a bevy of beautiful women to take group photos with. Am I right or am I right? (Hahaha! You have no other choice, dear reader.)
By the time we already knew that we both passed the Board Licensure Examination for Psychometrician 2015 and the last droplets of tears of joy were shed, the parentals decided to treat everyone with us. So, we all walked to the nearest mall which was Robinsons Manila. After a few minutes of looking for a place to eat, we opted to try a new resto named Gumbo.
I am no food genius but I have tasted quite a few good restos and I can rate this as an 8/10. Mozzarella sticks are most of the time a way to my heart but theirs were kinda dry and not that golden brown (unlike in other restos like Burgoo and TGIFriday's). All in all, our dining experience was good. The crew was accomodating and so eager to attend to each and every one's needs (like refilling our glasses for bottomless lemonade).
My twin sis, Moira, and I, alongside our cousin, Ate Twinkle, woke up a little bit earlier than the usual to take a morning dip. We were not wishing for any tan lines so we took the hidden sun as an opportunity to enjoy swimming without getting fifty shades darker. Pun intended.
We were the only guests there so we made use of the self-timer to take this photo. Thank you, SM MOA's department store for me and my twin sister's tankinis; and Robinsons Manila department store for Ate Twinkle's rashguard! So much for endorsing, huh? Kidding aside, we totally enjoyed being the only ones there. Who would not if you got the pool by yourselves, right?
Um, this is me. Photobombing my twin sister, Moira.
We finally got the lifeguard to take a photo of us three!
After our early morning dip, Moira and I, together with the parentals, had our breakfast buffet at the hotel. The buffet closes at around 10 in the morning but we got there 30 minutes earlier because we had to take a bath first and wear decent clothes. Diamond Hotel's management requires guests to follow the proper dress code for the buffet: no rubber slippers and sandos are just an example.
Am I the only one who thinks these are bird origamis?
Why do breakfast buffets always take my breath away? It is basically because of bacon. Wait, did I just say bacon?
No one can have too much bacon. The second photo was blurry because I was too excited to devour on my champorado topped with bacon with a lot of evaporated milk. I did not expect that the French toast I got has cinnamon on it. I was so used to butter; that is it. It tasted good though. If I could take a whole lot more of bacon in our room, I definitely would have done it.
I love eating at buffets with my family. Is not it obvious? Take note of our matching outfits. We are legit twins after all. ;)
We all went to Mall of Asia at lunch time. Tita Kooky and Ate Twinkle were to meet someone there and Lola Susan, Tito Dong, and Tita Jen decided to walk around and shop. My twin sister, the parentals, and I all wanted to watch Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation because we were still so full from our breakfast; and so, we did. As always, we were thrilled by the film. It is a must-watch!
At around 2:30 in the afternoon, Mama wanted to eat at The French Baker. It was my first time to eat here so I trusted my mother's reviews (that food here tastes good). We ordered Chili con Carne for Moira, Spicy Seafood Pasta for me (because I was craving for seafood marinara and it was the same thing), Beef Lasagna and Spaghetti Bolognese for Papa, and Clubhouse Sandwich and Nacho Pizza for Mama. Truth be told, my mother knows best. My palates were enticed by the familiar yet new taste of what I had eaten. A very good first time here, I must say. :)
There was an ongoing fair of different kinds of food near The French Baker so we tried eating a gelato for the first time ever! Thank you, Mio Gelati, for our cookies 'n cream and cookie crumble gelato.
Just because we could not get enough of the water, when we went back to the hotel, we changed back into our swimsuits (we were then joined by Tita Kooky and Tita Jen — they even bought their own rashguards at MOA earlier!).
Three days and two nights were spent at the Diamond Hotel and we honestly enjoyed our stay. The relaxation we need from the burden of our anxieties in the past few months was given as expected. I want to thank Tita Kooky for making this happen and to the rest of the family who were with us to celebrate one of our greatest achievements in life.
Lots of love,
M❥M
