Foodventure #1: Chef Laudico Guevarra's

It has been two months or so since I last updated our blog. We were busy studying for our board examinations last July 21-22, 2015.

So now, we finally have free time to do things we could not do when we were in college. Time to binge-watch TV series and unwatched movies, read our pile of to-be-read novels, and enjoy our moments of being unemployed human beings!

On the 29th, we celebrated our cousin's 21st birthday (he celebrated his birthday for the 2nd time consecutively with us!) at Chef Laudico's Guevarra's at San Juan Manila.

This restaurant that offers a buffet not only caters walk-in customers but also provides high-quality Filipino food in birthdays, weddings, and other occasions.

There is a waiting area outside the restaurant. It can also serve as a 'tambayan' for other customers who want to drink and just chill out with friends after eating.

If you go inside the restaurant, what you studied in Philippine History will suddenly make you feel like you are a part of the past. The interior of Guevarra's is a mix of history and modernization. As a lover of  this country's history, I definitely enjoyed being surrounded by everything involving the past.

You can never go wrong with pork!!! I really enjoyed eating this one in particular because the skin was exceptionally crispy (and I love crispy to death). The bagnet tasted good too. We were raised as carnivorous kids so no biggie.

I love the red velvet cupcake the most. In any dessert store we had a chance to eat in, I always look for anything that is in red velvet flavor. If there's a cheesecake here, I would not refrain myself from munchin'. The macaroons were not very sweet — which I like in desserts. Just the perfect amount of sweetness does the trick!

We both love the bagoong rice and we were like, "what the! kahit ito na lang kainin!"

These were just some of the plates displayed on walls that were signed by celebrities, politicians, news anchors, and other icons that already had the chance to dine in Guevarra's.

Lunch for 7! We made a reservation days ago to ensure us seats (because we might not have seats if we would just be walk-ins). Too bad Chef Roland & Chef Jacq  Laudico were in Palawan. We could have met them in person (we met Chef Jacq, I think 2 years ago, when our family ate here for the first time ever). Chef Jacq was a classmate of our mother way back in highschool so it is quite easy for us to make a reservation.

Happy birthday, Kuya Nicko! It feels nice that you chose to celebrate your day with us. We love you! :)

I recommend you to try dining here! It is absolutely worth every penny. Authentic Filipino ambiance + high quality of food = Bam! Until next time, Guevarra's. :)
